Sawanoien (sake brewery)

On May 23rd, we went on a field trip to Sawanoien to visit sake brewery and experience sake tasting. Meeting up in Shinjuku, we took a train for 1 hour 20 minutes, arriving in a quiet rural area surrounded by greenery. At the end of our train ride, we changed to a very small, local train, which didn’t have automatic doors. Being used to the trains in the central Tokyo, the students enjoyed this mini-train, opening the doors by pushing the buttons themselves, making announcements, “Watch out for the doors!”

Arriving at Sawanoien, we had a pleasant surprise of running into KAI students having a picnic. One of them had joined our visit to Sawanoien in the past and liked it so much that he kept coming back for picnics.

Everyone enjoyed the visit and said they wanted to come back again.
